Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Job seekers from the SLST Physical and Work Education 2016 batch staged a protest today, led by Kunal Ghosh, against the High Court's stay on their recruitment. The candidates alleged that despite being qualified and cleared by the state government, their appointments have been stalled due to legal complications. The protest march started from a central location but was stopped by the police at Rani Rashmoni Avenue. Demonstrators demanded immediate recruitment, claiming that unnecessary legal battles had blocked their rightful jobs.
Kunal Ghosh addressed the protestors, stating that the candidates have no connection to any CBI investigation or Supreme Court case. "These are SLST Work Education and Physical Education candidates. They are qualified. The state government reviewed all legal aspects before appointing them," he said. He alleged that advocate Bikash Bhattacharya’s case led to the court's stay, preventing the candidates from joining their posts despite completing all necessary formalities.
The recruitment issue has been ongoing, with candidates repeatedly seeking government intervention for a resolution. The protest highlighted frustration over delays in employment despite official approvals. With the legal battle still unresolved, job seekers continue to demand a swift end to the case so that appointments can proceed without further obstacles.
